Such a broad, complex, mysterious TERM isn’t it? ‘Ladies Styling’’.
What exactly is Ladies Styling, and how is it done?
Who does it?
Where can it be learned?
Why do I need it?
What’s the POINT?
Having taught and performed in 63 countries, throughout the world I have witnessed a very clear distinction between Colder Climate Women and Warmer Climate Women – especially in the Salsa dance communities. (more…)
By Edie, The Salsa FREAK!!I just got done dancing up a storm with one of my favorite dance partners (I have about 2 dozen or so favorites…). I danced so hard, I decided to sit out a song and entertain myself watching the amazing social dancers of Los Angeles. It had been a while since I’d been in town, and wanted to catch some new cool moves.I looked over to my right and saw a couple dancing like there was no tomorrow. The woman was excellent. Her style was incredible. Her arms were very stylish, her head tossed in all the right directions, at all the right times, her hips were all in sync and full of action. My eyes became fixed on this woman. how she moved her shoulders, chest, and fingers. (more…)
I was very flattered when Edie asked me to submit my letter to her newsletter. I hope that what I have written here doesn’t offend too many people and that they can see beyond any poorly-worded phrases and not misinterpret me too severely. London, England “Look Daddy… They must be *****s!”
By Edie, The Salsa FREAK
Luis Saint Clare showed us a fabulous time in London. It was his first International event that was geared toward bringing in top instructors from around the country and the world. Workshops, performances and awards were given. This was my second visit to London, and coming to London this time, was definitely a much more pleasant experience than what I had experienced with Team Salsaweb a year before. The Salseros of London were much more open this time to our style of dancing and method of teaching. World events like the International Salsaweb (more…)
Ladies, Let’s Start a Revolution! by Edie, The Salsa FREAK
After giving a small women’s styling workshop to a group of four women in Mountainview, CA, I’ve come to realize that knowing how to walk, sit, stand, and dance “sensually” is not something most of us were born with. If we’ve never had ballet training growing up, and unless we have role models, we basically fumble around out there on the dancefloor and “try” to look good, with very little luck. It’s not until we’ve seen a TRAINED dancer walk in the room, or on television that we realize we’re missing “something” in our own dancing. (more…)
