In New York, traditionally, when there is one instructor teaching Shines to both male and female students On2, the tradition has always been to train on women’s timing.
Why? No idea.

In Los Angeles, traditionally, when there is one instructor teaching Shines to both male and female students On1, the tradition has always been to train on men’s timing.
Why? No idea.
Again, refer to the “Baked Ham” story from Monday.
However, there are a few schools in New York and New Jersey that have since changed their group class warmup Shines to match what we do at BBS (men on one side, women on the other) because it simply makes more sense. The former previous tradition above is slowly fading out.
As for Los Angeles, I am not sure what they are doing now, as I no longer have contacts there like I do in New York.
